CELTIC have taken control of the title race with their 2020 form so far. But even before that, people forget, after the blip of Hibs and Livi, the bhoys went on an 11 game winning streak before the loss to The Rangers at Celtic Park.

Using his RecordSport column, Chris Sutton has hit back at the abuse he got for calling the club serial losers before they lost the cup final to Celtic, especially when Gerrard basically called his team that after the Rugby Park defeat.

Sutton is now wondering whether Steven Gerrard actually regrets his Celtic Park celebrations even though when they were happening at the time Sutton was jokingly ridiculing the Scouser for his over exuberance.

“I lavished them praise after the Old Firm win. They deserved it and their form over the first half of the campaign to keep pace with Celtic was worthy of extreme commendation. Gerrard may be regretting his exuberant celebrations at Parkhead, even if my tongue was in my cheek when I said at the time they were OTT.”

Celtic know the title isn’t over yet but they have taken a massive step towards retaining the SPFL trophy for a ninth consecutive time.

With 12 games to go they are firmly in the drivers seat.

It’s Aberdeen up next for Neil Lennon’s men, will they be able to flex their muscles at Pittodrie for a second time this season?
