Celtic announced their third loan signing of this window this morning. The clubs has taken 19 year old Belgian defender, Jason Denayer on a season long loan from Premiership Champions Manchester City.

I have no problem with loan deals coming in like some seem to have this morning but I am worried that Celtic are taking steps to potentially cushion the blow of Van Dijk following Fraser Forster out the door.

After all we seen Craig Gordon come in earlier this summer when the club knew they were more than likely to going to sell their goalkeeper. Are they doing the same here, or are they simply beefing up the squad for the new season?

Of course Van Dijk will move on eventually but this is not the time for it. The Dutch defender is under contract and Celtic hold all the cards. If they decide to cash in on him after one season it would indicate that while the club hold the cards they are more than willing to fold.

The cynic in me thinks they may very well be weighing up their options on the defender.

Jason Denayer will hopefully be a welcome addition to the squad and can grow as a player beside Virgil rather than replace him.

With no option to buy the player though, we may very well be training and tutoring another clubs player. Something that Deila said he was trying to avoid a month back.

Once Legia Warsaw appeal has been seen I think you will see more permanent activity from the club.
