Brendan Rodgers was finally unveiled as Celtic manager on Friday.

Despite the 50 year old not being in the job for a lengthy period of time, transfer speculation has been rampant.

And the latest player to be linked with the Hoops is Arsenal defender Rob Holding.

The Englishman joined the Gunners in 2016 from Bolton and has made a total of 162 appearances in North London.

Now, he appears to be heading for the exit door and according to Olt Sports on Twitter, Celtic are in discussions with Holding’s representatives. Brentford and another unnamed club are also in the same predicament regarding the player.

It is said the 27 year old would be available for a fee in the region of £8 million.

Although this does sound a tad steep, it would not be outwith the realms of possibility to spend this amount on a player for Celtic.

Nonetheless for that price, the Bhoys could likely do better than someone who has predominantly been a bench warmer at a club who, notwithstanding this season, have been rather underwhelming in recent times.

  1. This is the problem with hiring Rodgers. He shops in expensive markets, doesn’t know anything else. He will go through 40 million in jig time and will start to bitch and moan when he doesn’t get more. He has no nowledge of any other markets. Knutsen does. Rodgers will happily spend 8 million on a dud like Holding, drop him when he is rubbish and then ask for another 8 mil for a replacement. But we don’t have 8 mil to waste. Where is the scouting network. Asia, Scandanavia. Forget about the EPL and Championship, Serie A and La Liga. We should be selling players to them for huge fees having had three good seasons out of them. Time for some modern thinking. Going back is always going to end in tears. Rob Holding…Good Grief. Someone needs to tell BR to get his head out of him backside.

  2. Om sure celtic and ridyers knows the league hes in and the restraints hes under we gave scouts all over the world and we spent a lot of monety setting it up so we have to take advantage of it but we need big spend 7or 8 million on a reliable player holden is a good pro but not at £8,000,000 he has the tools to win the spl maybe treble but to do well in europe need an upgrade but rember we have got a coach that can improve the team
