One of the major decisions we believe Celtic had to make this summer has already been made and we’re not even at the end of this season.

James Forrest was about to enter the final year of his Celtic contract in the summer prompting debate of whether the club should sign James to a new deal or move him on.

The winger hasn’t made much impact this season due to injury and the great options we have on the wing and there was a feeling the club might look sell James if the opportunity arose.

Today, the club has confirmed Forrest has signed a new three year extension that will keep him at Celtic Park until 2025.

James will be 31, in the summer and will be heading to his mid 30’s when his deal expires. It’s clear the club have shown great loyalty to James and Ange clearly believes the Scottish international has a part to play in his squad going forward.

It’s been a long time since James came up through the academy under Neil Lennon, and he last night overtook Jimmy Johnstone for honours won in a Celtic jersey with the Hoops title win.

If Ange believes James is worth a new deal, Celtic fans should be happy enough with that.
