NIR BITTON has hit the nail on the head when it comes to the mood surrounding Celtic’s defeat to Rangers* in December.

The bhoys fell to a 2-1 defeat to the Ibrox club during the final game of 2019. The hysteria which gripped a large element of Scottish football had the Champions down and out with no hope of recovery.

It’s forgivable I suppose. It’s not like Celtic are off the back of three trebles in a row, eight league titles and already have silverware this season.

Speaking after Celtic widened the gap to thirteen points in the league, Nir Bitton was clear on what he thought went on after the derby defeat.

“I think, after the Old Firm game before the winter break, everyone killed us, everyone wanted us to fail. Every away game in the Scottish league is difficult and, to be the hero, we need to accept it, we need to face it.” He told BBC Sport.

Since that defeat, the bhoys have been rampant with only a draw against Livingston in the league.

The champions elect in December have imploded in a major way.

It’s incredible that this team and our club constantly come up against the narrative we’re about to be pushed off our perch. It’s wishful thinking and not reporting.
