CELTIC could be quids in after a decision not to take an upfront fee for their former youth player Aaron Hickey when he re-joined Hearts.

Hickey, 17, has made the breakthrough for the Jambos and is regarded as one of their best players already. The player has been linked with a move to Manchester City in recent times according to SunSport who also revealed the Scottish Champions have a 30% future sell-on clause for the youngster. Recent developments claim Arsenal and Liverpool are also looking at the Hearts player.

Celtic didn’t want to lose the player when he left for Tynecastle and were aware of his qualities – that’s why someone at the club has made the astute decision to insist upon a large sell-on fee rather than measly compensation.

It has been a meteoric rise for Aaron who right now has the world at his feet. There’s no doubting if he wants first-team football then the Jambos is probably the best place for his development but could he be persuaded to make the move down south?

If so Celtic could net a fair bit of cash in any deal made by the Edinburgh side.
