Celtic look set to lose another young hot prospect to a major European club, this time Ben Doak looks set to end his Celtic affiliation and take up an offer from Liverpool.

In recent years, Man City and Bayern have been proactive in cherry picking Celtic players to bring into their academy. While it was frustrating, you could hardly blame the youngsters with Celtic’s youth setup in disarray.

Things aren’t completely solved when it comes to academy players but it’s our understanding Ange has made a concerted effort along with the youth coaches to bridge the gap between youth sides and the first team.

There are plenty of youngsters getting first team training sessions and Ben has even got some game time this season.

However, not even the pull of being a Celtic fan and the opportunity to blossom at the club seems enough for Ben to stay in Glasgow.

The Athletic have reported the deal looks all but done.

Ben recently turned 16 but has yet to sign his first professional deal. He’s been advised to leave his boyhood heroes and try his hand in the English Premier League youth system.

Celtic would receive a nominal trainee fee for Ben.
