Up until the last two SPFL games, Celtic had been a juggernaut in the SPFL. The Hibs game was a speed bump and the Livi game an almighty crash.

Celtic’s need for a Plan B this season has to be addressed and it’s quite simple what we need to do when teams like Livi try and stifle us out of the game – make more of our set pieces!

Celtic played some top football under Brendan Rodgers but we weren’t famed or feared for our set pieces – to be honest every time we get a corner I could not be more disinterested nowadays.

This may be Neil Lennon’s side now and we have some terrific technical players, however, it astounds me how the likes of Ryan Christie and Callum McGregor can’t put consistently decent crosses into the box for our big guys to latch onto. Don’t get me wrong – sometimes they do swing in something worthwhile and on those days we have a misfiring player in the box.

It’s something the bhoys should be working on – not just during training but perhaps after their obligated sessions. The need to impose ourselves on games in other ways has to be seen as an urgent issue.

It not only gives us a Plan B against sides like Livingston, Killie etc who want to sit in but it gives us a good outlet in Europe playing against teams who may have more of the ball. Making our set pieces count on a semi-regular basis will produce its own results.

Hoepfully it’s something Neil Lennon and his coaching staff have looked at.

  1. Looking at striker prospects and our disastrous attempts to pay a paltry £3.5M for McGinn. Shankland mike supports the sevco but he’s a serious prospect and them in Govan fancy him. We have the money to bring him in and get good results from him. If Eddie goes, which he will eventually, we at least have a plan B.
I suggest waiting is not on the cards. We want a striker and he is in the shop window, so go GET HIM.
