With domestic football only days away from resuming for Celtic, it shall be interesting to see what defensive pairing Ange Postecoglou selects.

The position has been boosted this window after the addition of Yuki Kobayashi giving Ange the option of five central defenders in the New Year.

It is a part of the pitch which the manager tends to not rotate too often but he has been forced to this season due to various injuries which has meant that all current centre backs have had some gametime.

Last season the chosen pairing at the back was between Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt who provided great stability to the Celtic team.

Starfelt missed all of pre-season during the summer meaning that it was important for him to once again build up his minutes which he’s been able to do during this winter break.

Although Moritz Jenz has been a regular feature it is likely that he wouldn’t have featured as much had Starfelt not been out for so long.

Carter-Vickers has been the mainstay at the back and deputised as captain when Callum McGregor was out injured so he’ll be a definite for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

It is expected that Postecoglou will turn to the familiar paring of Starfelt and Carter-Vickers to start against Aberdeen on Saturday.
