Celtic are considering appointing Juventus chief scout Matteo Tognozzi as director of football according to Goal.com.

The club appears to be making moves and casting their net far and wide as they look to make a key Director of football appointment.

To this point, Celtic have not openly claimed they will go with a DoF appointment but it’s widely accepted Dominic McKay will come in and look to implement the setup.

It would clear McKay to look after the business side of things and would provide any head coach with the help on recruitment and football-related matters.

The perception of our current CEO, Peter Lawwell, is he has skewed into football matters too much over the years.

Matteo Tognozzi is currently employed at Juventus as a scout but has held a variety of roles around Europe over the past ten plus years.

He joins a list of other candidates which includes Manchester City man, Fergal Harkin.

It’s an appointment Celtic need to get spot on. McKay has to choose and trust his director of football and they must buy into any manager who is in the Celtic hot seat. If there’s cohesion and a clear plan, Celtic will greatly benefit.

  1. There has been too much negative around Celtic this season–the boli boli was the start,. could not play 2 league games. Then, Christie was NOT allowed to play against the huns but Tierney could play against Man city when both players had 14 days to isolate. 1O days was done and Tierney played v Man city. Shane Duffy came along and how many games did he play well? -very few. The virus comes -3 or 4 Celtic players could not play and so on and so on……
