Celtic’s Sunday 3-0 victory over Livingston has not only propelled them back to the top of the league but also perfectly set the stage for the upcoming Glasgow Derby.

This win saw the return of key players Reo Hatate and another full 90 for  Cameron Carter-Vickers, boosting the team’s performance on a pitch where Celtic has historically faced challenges.

Chris Sutton was on the Sky Sports panel and he surprisingly declared it was almost boring discussing CCV. The English man declaring Carter-Vickers’ value to the team has become almost redundant because of how evident it is.

“It’s interesting the calls to play Hatate and Carter Vickers today. Kris has mentioned the pitch, Brendan has to gamble though as he can’t afford a slip-up today at Livingston.” Sutton told Sky Sports.

“It’s not ideal. It’s boring talking about Carter-Vickers really because we know how good he is and how influential he is at Celtic. “And when he’s in the back line, you just feel that Celtic are more solid, more water-tight and far better off with him there. So that’s a boost.”

One thing we can never do is take any of our top players for granted, we understand what Chris is saying, but there was a train of thought that would see CCV miss out today because of the artificial surface. Celtic simply don’t have that luxury.

The £6m Celtic invested in acquiring him from Tottenham Hotspur has been incredible business. It’s been unfortunate that he’s spent more time on the sidelines than the pitch this season. However, if we can keep him fit for the remainder of the season, he could have a big say in if Celtic keep their title or not.

  1. Defences win you league titles, and the attack will determine by just how much imo?
We only find ourselves in our current position by giving up far to many soft goals and not being clinical enough in front of goal, on to many occasions this season?
CCV certainly brings a far better degree of stability within our defensive set up, even if scales had a few signs of a been a bit rusty within his own play today?
CCV strolled through today’s game and bought a calmness within our play where we have tended to go into panic mode within games that aren’t quite going to plan for ourselves?
That’s how important of a player he remains for ourselves, and will be crucial for ourselves next weekend?
