CHRIS SUTTON is talking like a man who believes the title won’t be resting in paradise at the end of the season. The two clubs are on level pegging, albeit Celtic are top through goals scored.

While Celtic have been branded poor, and by all accounts, they have been, they are still on the same points as their Glasgow rivals, while Rangers have been lauded as some sort of fantastic team, yet it’s still all to play for.

The way the Celtic striker spoke after Rangers won their game in hand, you would think it was over. He clearly feels that the Ibrox side have the edge.

“There are grumblings and rumblings going on at Celtic and the fanbase aren’t happy or there’s a certain section of the fanbase aren’t happy about various things which we haven’t got long enough to go into,” Sutton told BBC Football Daily.

“But I mean, the one thing which Rangers can’t afford to do and I don’t think they will, because I don’t think the manager will allow them to do is to get complacent.

“We have seen them get complacent in previous seasons. But things can unravel quickly either way. You know, Rangers certainly haven’t cracked it. I don’t think Philippe Clement is saying that they have.

“Celtic certainly, their title dreams aren’t over. Celtic haven’t performed at the level this season which they did do under Ange Postecoglou, that’s clear, but it’s level pegging.

“They have to play each other twice and Celtic have defeated Rangers in the head-to-head games so far.

“But Rangers’ comeback is pretty phenomenal. They’re a different team. They’ve got a different attitude and a serious manager.”

There are no heads in the sand at Celtic, they had a commanding lead and they blew it. However, Brendan Rodgers and the team have still got more in the locker and while hitting the heights of last season isn’t in the stars, they are still well in this title race.

The giddiness of the Ibrox led media means we’ll have to ignore them even more in the quest of another title.

  1. Sutton is all for Celtic when there are winning but gets a bit panicky when things are not going right. He is needing to chill out and have a little bit more trust that Celtic can only get better.
