Celtic defender Christopher Jullien has admitted that rivals, Rangers will be ‘stronger’ in the coming league campaign but has reiterated this league is more of a marathon than a sprint and the Bhoys will also be stronger.

As reported by the Daily Record, the French defender was speaking ahead of this weekends game against Kilmarnock, as the club advertised the opening of the brand new refurbished, Adidas superstore. Jullien was asked about the threat that the Ibrox side could cause but Jullien was insistent that the hoops will be ready.

“Rangers are definitely going to be stronger, for sure. They are our opponent. They are going to take some more players in to add something and make them champions. Thats normal. Thats what we expect.

But thats also why we’ve worked hard since we came back. We know our group is really good and really strong – but we also know that our opponents will be stronger. Us too.

But I’m really proud of what wee are and what we’ve done since the beginning of pre-season. I just can’t wait for the marathon to begin.”

It is good to see players, not being too overconfident when being asked about opposition teams in our league, no matter who they are. This season, the main motto from manager Neil Lennon will likely be ‘one game at a time’.

Jullien also spoke on what it is like to play alongside Odsonne Edouard at both Toulouse and now Celtic. The young striker has been one of the biggest topics in Scottish Football recently because of his incredible goal scoring form.

“You always want to play with the best and Odsonne has shown to all of Scotland and the world he’s a really good striker.

That’s normal. For me, I want him to be by my side, under my shoulder. But when you have good players, they will always get attention. As Celtic we just have to be good with them and see what happens

This year is really important, so we’ll see. Confidence has made all the difference to him.

When I met him in Toulouse he was just 18 and beginning. He didn’t have the trust of the club. But seeing him today and how confident he is with the ball, without it, with his team-mates, it shows everything. Thats the biggest difference I’ve seen in him since the beginning. Now he’s a man”

Odsonne Edouard will clearly be a big player for Celtic in what has the potential to be a huge season, in the hoops long illustrious history. Fingers crossed we get to see the best of him yet again, for another season.
