Signing for Celtic on a free transfer in 2016, striker Colin Kazim-Richards didn’t have the best time in Glasgow. The Turkey internationalist made just 13 appearances for the club, scoring two goals in that time.
Kazim-Richards was by no means a success in green and white, but he has recently heavily criticised Ronny Deila, his manager at Parkhead. He said (Filthy Fellas Podcast via Glasgow Times): “You asked who’s the worst coach, he’s [Deila] the worst coach. We won the league that year but got beat in the cup final as well.”
The centre-forward joined the Bhoys in the Norwegian gaffer’s second season in charge of the club. Whilst in Scotland, the now 37-year-old didn’t think he learned anything. He said: “I think with Ronny Deila, there was nothing he was doing that any of us was learning. There was no motivation, no communication, no relatedness and on the pitch one thing he was not good at was tactics. It was like ‘what are we doing?’ He brought this full-fat diet into the team. No carbs, but there was bacon, pork sausages, everything fat and meat diet.”
As much as Deila’s management style may not have worked for Kazim-Richards, he didn’t show many shades of brilliance and the talent he supposedly possesses while at Celtic. It was a move that never worked out, and now, the striker who hasn’t even scored 100 goals throughout his career is without a club.
