CELTIC kick off their home campaign today against Dundee in front of the biggest crowd yet since fans have been allowed to return in small numbers.

24,500 Celtic fans will be in the stadium today as Ange Postecoglou hopes to get his SPFL account up and running after a disappointing defeat to Hearts on the opening day.

Joe Hart and James McCarthy have both signed on since that defeat and Joe will likely be the man in goals for Celtic this afternoon.

The provisional squad for today has been confirmed [RecordSport] and Joe is there, however, McCarthy is not.

It makes sense because the player hasn’t had a pre-season training regime and has been keeping fit on his own in the off season.

It could be a number of weeks before we see James in action. Celtic will be assessing his fitness as they go.

The rest of the provisional squad is what you would expect. New bhoys Starfelt, Abada and Furuhashi all in and ready to play. Still no Leigh Griffiths who is apparently injured.

With our title rivals slipping up at Tannadice on Sunday, it’s imperative Celtic go all out for the win against Dundee. The Hoops could give their season a real shot in the arm by grabbing the three points.

We can’t take anything for granted at the moment, as Ange tries to get his ideas across to the team, we’re going to see some up and down performances.

  1. I am sure big Louie will have Griff back on the field as soon as Edouard departs. However why no bid for Nisbet and why no bid for O’Donnel for the right-back position. Also, I would like to see Welsh as a Partner to Starfelt in the back line.

So com-on big man just make the team yours (Big Louie’s team!).

  2. Up and down performances do not cut the mustard. We are at home to Dundee and it is simply out of the question to see anything other than a comfortable and commanding Celtic victory. Nothing less will suffice.

  3. The new guys are hungry and all seem to want to win. Don’t waste any more time on Christie or Eduoard. I wouldn’t even have them in the squad. Get some of the youngsters in the squad and give them a bit of game time. Once key players start getting too big for their boots and start downing tools it’s no longer a “team”. Get them as far away from the squad as possible. They agreed a contract but aren’t professional enough to honour it. They should have taken a leaf out of Brown’s or Ajer’s book and would probably have already got their move by now. I would also have Welsh in central midfield before Biton. He’s not been sent off for a couple of games so he’s due a red card. Liability!

  4. Sorry I meant central defence for Welsh. Anyway my team given the way things are would be Hart, Ralston, Welsh, Starfeld, Taylor, Sorro, McGregor, Turnbull, Abada, Furuhashi and unless forced to do otherwise bring on Forrest, Rogic, and possibly Ajeti if we need to go with 2 up front.

  5. I wouldn’t play Eddy I wouldn’t even bring him on as a late sub,if we don’t sell him I would keep him and not play him the rest of the season because he doesn’t want to play for the team..
