It was back in April when news broke Karamoko Dembele’s contract wasn’t up at the end of the season as previously thought.

RecordSport claimed the youngster’s deal will run for another season after the end of this campaign.

We reached out to the club to find out if this was indeed the case but as of yet, we haven’t received a reply one way or the other.

Why does it matter?

If Karamoko has a year left on his deal, it gives a new manager time to build him up, develop him and get him signed to a new deal.

The youngster has not been developing well over the past two years with very little game time in the reserves and apparently, he refused a lower league loan.

There’s no denying the talent the wee man has but it has to be matched with attitude and determination.

If he has one year left, it’s time to use the winger and see what he can do. However, if Dembele tells Celtic he won’t be signing a new deal then the manager would have no choice but to shelf any plans to play the midfielder.

On the flip side, if his deal runs out at the end of this season, he will move on for sure.

Celtic need to clear this up.
