Since David Turnbull joined the club back in September from fellow Scottish Premiership side Motherwell, it would be fair to say he has had a very up-and-down time.

On a personal level, it has been an incredible few months at the club with the midfielder coming in and making an instant impact on the side ever since the dead rubber Europa League tie against Lille at Celtic Park.

From the team’s side of things though it has been extremely poor and has ultimately led to manager Neil Lennon departing from his role.

As quoted by the Glasgow Times, reflecting back on that time so far Turnbull said:

“It has been a weird situation this year,” said Turnbull earlier this week. “On a personal level, it has been good. I have got a lot of games under my belt and have had a lot of good games. It is a team game, though. We want to win every game we can and get as many good results as we can. We have not done that enough.

“Since Lille, I have been involved in every game so obviously I have enjoyed that. It has been a good experience. Now I just have to look to kick on and get even more under my belt now.

“It is good getting praise, but it is about the team. It is not really about being stuck in the middle, it is just about doing your best for Celtic. As you would imagine, there have been some highs and some lows, but I have enjoyed every minute of it.”

It would be fair to say that the 21-year old has been one of the very few shining lights from this season.

His contribution to the team has single-handedly won us games at times and he is now within a shout of making the Scotland squad for this summers Euros.

With such a huge rebuild on the way, you would expect Turnbull to play an integral part in the side going forward and possibly even a player that the new management team will look to build the side around.

When a new manager comes in the summer, it will certainly be interesting to see what the attacking midfielder can do as this only feels like the beginning with even more to come.
