Celtic majority shareholder Dermot Desmond has been previously criticised for how little he engages with the club. He didn’t attend the most recent AGM and is rarely seen at Parkhead taking in matches.

At the start of 2024, he was strangely pictured on the golf course with music star DJ Khalid and although his latest appearance is not as random, it remains somewhat out there.

On Saturday, the Hoops took on Aberdeen in a Scottish Cup semi-final. The match dramatically went to penalties where the Celts came away triumphant.

During the shootout, the tension within Hampden could have been cut with a knife, but the scenes after it were joyous.

The same can be said for the pub of a particular Irish Celtic fan. A rousing cheer went up in the bar at the end of the game, and Desmond could be seen raising his fists to the air in celebration.

The billionaire was said to have watched the full match in the local establishment:

Not known for being too much of a public figure, Desmond keeps himself to himself and rarely speaks out.

It was a surprise to see him take in Saturday’s match at a bar, but he will have been delighted post-match regardless.
