Reported Celtic target Connor Roberts ended speculation about his future by penning a new four-year deal with Swansea.

Roberts was entering the last six months of his current deal with the Welsh club with many admirers, including Celtic, keeping an eye on the situation.

However, the defender has decided to stay with the club he has come through the ranks with and signed a lucrative long term deal.

Roberts has rose to prominence in this Swansea side and has become a top Welsh international.

The right back could have been perfect to replace Mikael Lustig at Celtic Park but the bhoy’s must look elsewhere now in pursuit of a new defender.

The position has proved to be an elusive target for Celtic thus far. Rodgers tried in vain during the summer to bring in someone to rival Lustig but he and the board failed to secure targets.

Hopefully Connor was just one of many in a long list of top targets.
