Dominic McKay has come in for a bit of stick already and had two banners aimed at him by the Green Brigade already!

The man who has come in from the SRU has a monumental task on his hands to win fans over and put a proper structure in place at Celtic.

Sources at Celtic have told us the soon to be CEO has had no real power to this point and is simply shadowing Peter Lawwell and getting an overview of the business.

It means Peter is still the boss until the end of the month, despite rumours to the contrary.

McKay was the man put in front of the cameras for the Postecoglou announcement and the word modernisation came up again. This is a word we’ve heard from several different fan sources when they’ve spoken to the soon to be CEO.

But what does he mean?

Is this commentary on the fact Peter Lawwell allowed this club to be left behind in key areas? You can’t say the club needs modernised and then praise the guy in charge for the past 17 years simultaneously but McKay has done exactly that.

Celtic’s brand has been under utilised for years and behind the scenes, reform is needed to get the best from every department.

It’s McKay’s job to sort that out, but one thing he CAN’T do is stray into footballing decisions.

Peter Lawwell fancied himself as an unofficial director of football at times. Something that’s held the club back – we need football men making the football decisions.

A Director of Football should still be a priority and would be the key summer signing Dom has to make, but we’ve heard nothing in the way of progress or if Celtic have just abandoned the idea altogether.

We would expect Dominic to come out full guns blazing on July 1st and begin his charm offensive on the Celtic support. The former Rugby Union man talks about communication being key, we’ll be waiting to see if these are just empty words or there will be a concerted effort to be transparent with the Celtic support.
