Top podcast pundit Ian McGarry who is a football operations communication consultant by day and a TransferPodcast contributer by night delivered a positive update with regards to Odsonne Edouard.

McGarry spoke in the TransferPodcast about a £40m transfer bounty being put on the Frenchman’s head by the club and that Celtic are in no rush to sell but that Newcastle are interested.

McGarry said: “Edouard is valued at £40m by Celtic, it’s highly unlikely they’ll get that in the current climate

“His representatives say he doesn’t want to go to a club where he’s second or third choice — money is not the be all and end all at this point in his career.”

If you put the current football shutdown aside, the biggest thing for Celtic fans is keeping Eddy for one more year to help complete ten in a row.

It will only be able to happen if the club manage to sign Edouard to a new deal. Peter Lawwell would certainly not be comfortable letting the striker run down his contract to go into the final year.

Some might scoff at the amount of money Celtic will be looking for but many laughed off the Kieran Tierney price and the club for their £25m valuation.

Eddy is special and the club shouldn’t settle for anything less than what they want.
