SCOTLAND lost 1-0 to Holland at Pittodrie in a drab affair on Thursday night but that won’t dampen the spirits of Kieran Tierney who proudly led his country out as captain.

The 20-year-old has already had the honour of wearing the armband for Celtic and he must have been thrilled to get the news he would do so for Scotland, even if it is just for one evening.

Speaking after the game, Kieran said former Celtic teammate Virgil van Dijk shared some kind words with him and was proud to see him getting on.

“I actually spoke to Virgil van Dijk after the match and he congratulated me,” Tierney told the media.

“I learned from him when I was coming through at Celtic because he was centre back when I was left back a few times. Obviously, to learn off of him and see how well he’s done recently is great for me.”
