Russian side FC Zenit have reportedly entered the race for wantaway Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer.

According to a Russian outlet Eurostravska, Zenit is now supposedly interested in making a move for the Norweigan, who looks set for an exit this summer.

So far this summer, reports have suggested that the club has already rejected two bids for the 23-year old of around £10 million from Norwich City and Bayern Leverkusen.

This has left the defender frustrated after already admitting that he planned to depart the Hoops in this window a few months ago.

With it looking extremely likely that Ajer will end his five-year stay at the club, you would imagine that sides attracting interest will have to pay upwards of £10 million to meet the Hoops evaluation.

Ajer has certainly shown his worth at times in the Green and White. But whilst he could have potentially been a key player for Postecoglou next season, it doesn’t look likely.

So, it might be a sensible idea for the club not to let this rumble on and become a problem that could potentially see the defender leave next summer on a free.
