The award-winning journalist shared some intriguing insights about the situations involving Celtic players Liam Scales and Stephen Welsh.

Starting with Scales, Joseph noted that the Irish international’s stay at Celtic has been extended due to ongoing injury concerns with other squad members. Notably, Carter-Vickers’ recovery and Starfelt’s knock have necessitated Scales’ presence at the club.

“Aberdeen really want him back,” Joseph said, “but Celtic have been delaying that because of the situation.”

However, this doesn’t mean that Scales is destined to remain at Celtic Park. Joseph suggested that a move might still be on the cards, albeit later into the transfer window. “It wouldn’t surprise me if he ended up at Aberdeen but later into the window,” he said.

Joseph noted that Scales has proven his worth when called upon and has shown he can deliver. “He’s an Ireland international and he’s played Europa League games with Shamrock Rovers and European games with Aberdeen,” he pointed out.

Nonetheless, Joseph believes that for Scales’ long-term career development, a move away from Celtic could be beneficial.

Turning his attention to Welsh, Joseph revealed that interest in the young defender is high, with clubs in Germany and Italy among those keen on signing him. The decision on Welsh’s future, however, seems to be delayed due to his status as a homegrown player, a category which often carries certain advantages for clubs in various competitions.

“So, that could go either way; it’s not a certainty,” Joseph concluded.

These insights provided by Joseph offer a glimpse into the potential moves that could transpire as the transfer window progresses, and how Celtic might balance the needs of their squad with the individual career aspirations of their players.
