Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson, has not ruled the possibility of Celtic target, Ivan Toney staying at the English League One club

The 24-year old has been subject to interest from the hoops for several weeks now, with Neil Lennon taking an interest in the player and current first-team coach Gavin Strachan has a link with Tony as he was assistant manager at ‘Posh’

It has been reported that Brentford have had a bid accepted for the striker of £10 million. Today though, Ferguson admitted there is still a chance of Toney staying beyond the window.

“We have four excellent strikers, five if Ivan Toney stays, and they will all complement each other.”

As reported by the Daily Record, the former Newcastle United frontman, is going into the last 12 months of his contract, so it will be extremely tempting for Peterborough to sell their prized asset to get some sort of fee for the player.

The player has also admitted recently, that he is hoping to get a move to the Premier League, so there is a chance he rejects the move to Brentford, which could allow the Scottish Champions to sneak in.
