POPULAR TRANSFER WEBSITE Transfermarkt has published some laughable transfer valuations over the past couple of days, making a mockery of the Scottish game.

Jota was ranked the most valuable player in the Scottish Premiership, with his value overtaking The Rangers winger Ryan Kent, to €12 m. The English winger is tied with Celtic defender Cameron Carter-VIckers with a market value of €11 m.

Kyogo made a notable increase from €6 m to €9 m, with Callum McGregor ranked the sixth most valuable player in the division, with his price tag coming in at €8 m. Liel Abada is the only other player to make the top ten, sitting in ninth place with a value of €7 m.

With the exception of Abada, Celtic wouldn’t sell any of these players tomorrow unless a fee was record-breaking, you’d imagine.

Notably, players like Reo Hatae, Matt O’Riley and Dazien Maeda don’t make the league’s top 10 most valuable players. Yet, Raskin, Lundstram, Cantwell and Tavernier all managed to get a spot in the rankings.

While Celtic’s squad value increased by €11 m during the latest update, the Ibrox side saw a decrease of €10 m.

Transfermarkt clearly knows very little about the Scottish game when it comes to valuing players and doesn’t seem to show the parameters they use to make these decisions. It would be very interesting to see these published.

The MVP list seems to be all over the place and fails to show a true reflection to the Scottish League.

Celtic, if they choose to sell their top players, will rake in a near record-breaking fee, especially with the way the English market has evolved in recent years.

  1. After a couple of games Raskin and Cantwell miraculously see their valuation rise to £7M and £8M ? Who compiled this list,, Beale or Parks. The outstanding midfielder in Scotland, Reo Hatate is not even on the list, what a joke.
