It seemed inevitable that Fraser Forster would leave the club this summer, expressing his desire to move on several times.

Now that Celtic will not be in the Champions League this season his transfer will now be hastened before the start of the domestic season.

Spanish Press nicknamed him 'The Great Wall' after he helped down Barcelona.

Southampton have been very keen on the players services and we understand there has been dialogue between the English side and Celtic over the last few weeks.

St Mary’s looks like his likeliest destination at the moment, but we have no idea at what price tag is on the big goalies head.

Celtic’s money men will now thrash out a deal which will see one of our best goalkeepers in modern times leave for the Premiership.

Neil Lennon who brought Fraser in to the club always was proud of taking a Newcastle Utd reserve goalkeeper and turning him into an English International while plying his trade in Scotland. A great achievement for Forster and goalkeeping coach Stevie Woods.

This transfer was bound to happen but the heightened sense of frustration after a dismal Champions League exit is there for all to see.

At the end of last nights game Fraser threw his jersey into the crowd. An act that suggests he know his days at Celtic are coming to an end.

It is expected Craig Gordon will take his place between the sticks for the coming season.
