A club source has spoken out after the news broke about Fraser Forster not returning to the club and it makes for grim reading if you’re a fan of Fraser.
The source claims Fraser himself has blocked any move and told the club he won’t be returning to the club after speaking with the Southampton boss.
It was thought the goalkeeper was keen to make the move permanent but after heading down the road this week to have crunch talks, he has been promised first team opportunities. The source also claims Celtic had a deal in place to bring the keeper back for the ten – had things went well he and Moi would have been announced at the same time.
So, if we take this at face value, the goalkeeper has decided a CHANCE to play in the first team is worth more to him than being the goalkeeper who lands ten in a row. If that’s the case it’s very disheartening.
Here’s what the club source told SunSport:
“The club had agreed a season-long loan deal with Southampton with an option to buy.
“This wasn’t about money – there was also every desire to push the boat out on personal terms for Fraser for an eventual permanent agreement.
“He has an extremely lucrative contract at Southampton.
“Fraser had also indicated he was happy to stay at Celtic.
“But the fact of the matter is Fraser’s had a conversation with the Southampton manager and from that he has decided not to return.
“He feels he wants to fight for a place down there.
“It’s a big disappointment. Fraser was magnificent last season and everyone wanted him to stay – but it’s his decision.
“Everything was done to keep him.
“Now, though, it’s about moving on.”
It seems all very definite.
