The news just before Christmas there would be 644 bottles of beer commissioned for Messi’s Barcelona goals was something clever and unique from a marketing standpoint.
What’s even better is they plan to distribute the beers numbered 1-644 to the goalkeepers who conceded the goals.
That takes a lot of homework and effort to do on their part but a real souvenir for some goalkeepers in the game.
Inevitably, Celtic goalkeepers are in among the 644 goals because we’ve played Barcelona so many times in the last twelve years.

It’s the Fraser Forster bottle which will hold the greatest significance from a Celtic stand point. It was the historic game in 2012 when Celtic went 2-0 up against Barca at Celtic Park on our 125th birthday. The bhoys would come under extreme pressure late on and Messi would finally break down Celtic’s defence and bag a goal, but it was enough. It went down as a defeat for Barcelona days after the Argentine had become a father.
Fraser will be in the possession of a pretty cool piece of history and we wouldn’t be surprised to see it in circulation among serious collectors one day.
