The Irish Examiner has confirmed Celtic are set to make another signing by finalising a deal for Shamrock Rovers defender Liam Scales.

The 23-year-old has been on Celtic’s radar for quite some time but Shamrock were not for selling the defender until their European fate was sealed. The Irish club were knocked out of the conference league qualifiers by Flora.

Scales will now make the trip to Glasgow to take part in his Celtic medical and sign on the dotted line. The Irishman can play as a centre-back and left-back.

It’s another addition to Ange Postecoglou’s side as we look to get up to speed ahead of a hectic schedule. There will be a Glasgow Derby on Sunday followed by an international break. Once that’s over, the games come thick and fast in the league, Europa League and League Cup.

Hopefully, by the end of this calendar year, Celtic will be in a much better position.
