STEVEN GERRARD gushed praise on all his players for the season they had in the league cup and Europe but cited they were not good enough in the Scottish Cup and says he needs to improve if they want to be title contenders.

Something that many Gers supporters were willing to concede before the shut down but since football has been on the backburner, some of their fans believe they’ve become world beaters.

“In the league, we were going extremely well and suffered a couple of setbacks and that affected confidence, so we’ve been disappointed with our form since the turn of the year.

“(We were) not good enough in the Scottish Cup but in the League Cup I thought we were outstanding, I couldn’t point a finger a finger at any player.

“I thought we did everything and deserved to win that competition. But we didn’t, which we have to take on the chin.

“But I’m really proud of the players in the European run, in the League Cup run and for half of the season domestically. But that’s not enough. That’s the area I need to address, try and put a more consistent run.”

The League Cup trophy went to Celtic but even the Celtic support admit and get a good laugh out of the fact they managed to leave Hampden with the trophy.
