Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has a wealth of options available to him in the wide areas. Such depth is only set to increase with the arrival of Nicolas Kuhn from Rapid Vienna.

The signing of the German could signal the end of the road for one or two wingers but Frank McAvennie, who played over 50 games for Celtic in the 1980s, thinks one man has to go regardless.

Indeed, he believes that Mikey Johnston, who has come back into the fray this season, should be leaving the club. The Ireland internationalist has been given yet another opportunity by Brendan Rodgers this campaign and out with a brace at Dens Park, he has flattered to deceive.

Many supporters are continually frustrated by the 24-year-old, who is now no spring chicken. Johnston has made 90 Celtic appearances to date and his dream of making it at his boyhood club seems dead in the water despite a mini-revival last month.

Indeed, McAvennie thinks the end is nigh for the player: “Mikey Johnston for me has got to go”, he said (Football Insider). “Enough is enough for me. He’s got a talent but he’s never stamped his authority and got a first-team spot. It’s always when people are injured, and after seven years at the club – no.”
