When it comes to glasses I am always a glass half full kind of person, but football stadiums is a different matter entirely, In fact, it has always driven me crazy to see half-empty two-tiered stadiums. Close the top tiers and drop the fans into the lower stands.

It is been reported this morning in The Sun that we may have to suffer that ungodly sight next season as experts predict a 6-12 month continuation of social distancing. The report says capacity will be halved at all stadiums. This makes no sense as that would not meet the social distancing guidelines.

According to the newspaper, the report comes from an SPFL insider who said:

“It’s a major quandary – how you get people back into grounds when the restrictions are lifted. As things stand, the days of crowds of 50,000 at Ibrox and 60,000 at Celtic Park aren’t going to happen.”

“From what the government are saying, we could have social distancing for another 6-12 months, which would mean people sitting three or four seats apart next season to adhere to the two-metre rule.”

At this point, I don’t care about how many people are in the stadium. I’d gladly watch Scott Brown doing dribbling drills at Lennoxtown for some sort of fix. Maybe because I know deep down this thing is going to drag on for way longer than any of the reports we are hearing. There is no solution on the horizon, just people second-guessing a virus that is the only player moving up its own league table.

  1. Makes sense, if your nominated team is a pish no hoper and has absolutely no idea how to act on the field of play, or boardroom. Celtic are better than that. Can you imagine the Huddle starting anyway. Fuc& yea, of course. But at a two meter gap, that be called ‘The Stranger’ Or the Camus.
