CELTIC have a real chance of landing Borussia Monchengladbach attacking midfielder Hannes Wolf on a loan deal in January if the club still holds an interest in the player.

BILD reported last month the Hoops were interested in bringing Hannes to Celtic on a short term loan deal in January to become a quality option in attack for the second half of the season.

Things have gone quiet since then, but as we get closer to the transfer window opening it looks like Wolf will make a move away from the German’s next month.

Bild has come out this week and claimed Wolf has no future prospects with Monchengladbach and his options are open as far as January is concerned.

Celtic are going into phase two of their rebuild and they need to make sure they have a large enough squad with a depth in quality to have the best chance of winning more silverware in the second half of the season.

Hannes only made the move to Monchengladbach in the summer from RB Leipzig. The player has only managed 8 appearances for the German side.

Our Verdict:

A talented 22-year-old, attacking player with a point to prove could be exactly the type of signing we could utilise.

Loan deals can always be risky though and given the big outlay Monchengladbach made in the summer, even a loan deal would likely be expensive.

If it’s something we could work out, I’d be all for it but we should give permanent deals our main focus.
