It won’t come as a surprise to many but Callum McGregor’s contributions on the field in the 18/19 season eclipses any other player in a top flight league across Europe.

Callum McGregor has become one of Brendan Rodgers favourite players at Celtic Park.

The attacking midfielder has adapted from attacking midfielder to holding midfielder during the first half of the season.

The player’s ability to read the game and get the ball moving quicker has been a real game changer when the likes of Ryan Christie and Tom Rogic are on the receiving end of those passes.

Not only that but Callum’s ability to win the ball back seems to be getting stronger game by game.

During the recent disappointment at Ibrox the midfielder was asked to drop back into the defence and while Celtic didn’t get the result they wanted – it was clear he was probably one of Celtic’s best player’s on the day even when playing the foreign position.

McGregor was very unlucky not to get on the scoresheet at Ibrox with being marginally offside before putting it in the back of the net.

The more games that pass, the more critical the midfielder becomes to Brendan Rodgers.

With news Scott Brown might leave the club this summer, Callum’s role could take on more significance.
