Summer recruit Josip Juranovic has insisted he is ready to go instantly as he gears up for a possible derby debut against Rangers on Sunday.

As quoted by the Glasgow Times speaking to the media for the first time since joining the club, the Croatian insisted that he is ready if needed to be thrown into the Hoops biggest game of the season so far.

“I’m looking forward to [the Rangers game] very much because I am here to play and not to have my holidays.

“I have been waiting for this moment to play in one of the matches, and the most important thing is to win.

“I had it in Croatia with Dinamo against Hajduk Split and also in Poland with Legia, where I had big derbies against teams like Lech Poznan.

“I really like these games because every bit of it is tough, and you have to be concentrated every second of the game to make sure you do not make any mistakes.

“I think that I can help [Anthony], and he can help me. I know that he is young, but I am also young too. I am just 26 years old. So I look forward to playing with him because he is a great man as well.

“As soon as I came here to Celtic, he started to speak with me and greet me. That was really good of him to do that.”

Juranovic may be ready to go, but currently, he has a fight on his hands to secure the right-back position with the early season form of academy graduate Anthony Ralston.

Although both will have their time in the side, due to the busy schedule we face across the campaign, it will be interesting to see who Ange goes with going into his first derby fixture.

A sentence that many wouldn’t have expected to say a couple of months ago, but Ralston looks to be favourite at this stage, playing his part in securing Europa League football in the side on Thursday night.

It is good to hear that the Croatian is ready to go from the off, though, with the club having some transfer frustration throughout the summer, which has led to us being forced to wait to see new signings in action.
