OWEN MOFFAT has broken through into the first team this season and even played a part in the League Cup final. Not bad for someone who has only three first-team appearances to his name.

The young winger has been a stand-out in the B team this season; this earned him the step up. Postecoglou installed his faith in the winger, giving him three run-outs.

Moffat first got his taster of Ange in pre-season. Because of international tournaments in the summer months, the reserves joined with the first team and embarked on a mini pre-season tournament.

Speaking to Celtic TV, Moffat said;

“It’s been brilliant. You just have to take everything in your stride. If someone told me at the start of the season I would have made three appearances for Celtic I wouldn’t have believed them.

I’ve been ready for my chance and I feel like I took it at the time, so it’s been really.

“Pre-season was my first ever opportunity with the first-team. I remember on the day I didn’t even think I’d play. I really enjoyed it that day.

“I’ve been at Celtic since under 8s – it’s what I’ve dreamed of. I was a season ticket holder, ball boy, it’s a dream come true.

“The coaches are always reiterating you have to be ready to take your opportunity when it comes.

I’m with the B team now but when I get called up to the first-team I have to be ready.”

It’s great to see youth players get a chance in the first team. For the moment, the 18-year-old will continue his development with the B team, but it is good to hear that he is ready to take the step up when he is asked to.

The hard work for the winger starts now. Having his first taste of first-team football, he will be hungry for more. He must not get distracted and keep his head down.

If he keeps his performances up, there is no doubt he will be named in the first team soon.
