KRIS COMMONS is ramping up the heat ahead of this Sunday’s Glasgow Derby by putting Ibrox Captain James Tavernier to the sword over comments he made in the matchday programme.

The Ibrox man conceded they didn’t know how to handle SPFL sides being in their face and how they were struggling to cope after the January winter break.

Commons blasted the comments and compared Tavernier up against his former captain Scott Brown.

The Sky Sports pundit was making it clear his Captain wouldn’t have said or allowed that to be announced in a public forum.

“There’s no winning mentality at the club. Never in a month of Sundays would Scott Brown come out and say something like that.” Commons told the Daily Mail as cited by SunSport.

“If anyone else at Celtic spoke like that in public, he would come down on them like a ton of bricks.

“For Tavernier to be swanning around in a Lamborghini just makes it all look worse.

“He can’t handle the heat, yet he’s driving around in the Batmobile as if he’s some kind of big shot.

“A parting of the ways now looks inevitable.”

The rivals go head to head on Sunday with Celtic looking for a win which would take them a massive step closer to the title. After losing at home to Steven Gerrard’s men, the bhoys will want to put things right with their second win at Ibrox this season.

Hopefully, Scott Brown can lead the side to victory and wrap up the title, so Tav has more time to play with his batmobile.
