Celtic is on the cusp of finalising the loan signing of Norwich City’s Adam Idah, with the player currently undergoing a medical in London before making his way to Glasgow. This development marks a significant step in the club’s transfer activities, but it’s not without its peculiarities.

Intriguingly, the deal for Idah is structured solely as a loan, with no option for Celtic to purchase the striker at the end of the term according to Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph. This aspect of the agreement has raised eyebrows. The absence of a buy-out clause in the contract is unusual, and it has led to some suggesting that the move reeks of desperation.

This sentiment is felt among the Celtic fan base, who might view the lack of a buy option as a short-term fix rather than a strategic long-term investment. Such a move could be seen as a band-aid solution, aimed at addressing immediate squad needs.

Idah’s imminent arrival, therefore, is met with mixed feelings. While his addition could potentially bolster Celtic’s attacking options, the nature of the deal leaves questions about the club’s transfer strategy and long-term planning. As Idah prepares to swap Norwich for Glasgow, the Celtic faithful will be keenly observing how this loan move plays out in the context of their season ambitions.

  1. This is why they left it to the last day, scared to spend money, too busy ogling it!

    Balance Sheet FC

Since when did football become more about hoarding money than improving the team!?

  2. No one is in any doubt we need QUALITY players in now to keep us in the title race.
Why then, is no one surprised that yet again, we leave it till the final day of the transfer window to sign an unknown loanee who looks to be a squad filler.
As if we don’t have enough of those already.
Presumably we have plenty of employees on high salaries who are tasked with signing players for the first team.
Are they are all on holiday for the months of December & January?

  3. The Celtic board are rotten to the core and behave more like parasites than custodians of our great club. Once again the best fans in world football are being treated like a bunch of mugs by Desmond and Lawell.. STOP lining their pockets ! The fans are what defines Celtic, not the penny pinching hoard of Tory b****rds that are ” ruining ” our club . Ange saw the writing on the wall and got out who’s next bawbag Brendan ?

  4. Anthony, Ange left for money, he’s just as(maybe more so) money motivated as the board you describe

We better be doing something spectacular with this cash hoard to make these first team sacrifices worthwhile, like a new Main Stand

  5. Personally, I am glad there’s no buy option, because whenever I’ve seen him playing for ROI, he’s looked anything but deadly and he’s not the ‘quality’ signing that Rodgers said we needed.
This board are a bloody disgrace !!!
