Incoming chief executive Dominic McKay is today celebrating perhaps his final major influence on the Scottish rugby scene before heading to the Hoops.

McKay takes up his post at the start of July and will take over for the retiring Peter Lawwell. The Scottish Rugby executive was today celebrating the completion of a £5.7m project.

The SRU have confirmed the handover of a brand new 7,800 seater stadium, adjacent to Murrayfield.

The elite, state of the art stadium has been overseen by McKay and the SRU, even through the difficulties of the past year.

McKay has been talked up by many in Rugby circles as a driven and successful individual who likes to reinvest in the infrastructure when profit is made.

Speaking to the Scottish Rugby website, Dominic McKay, said: “We are incredibly excited to unveil Edinburgh Rugby’s new home.

“After many years of exhausting stadium and playing ground options for the club in the local area, we made this significant investment to develop a venue to help the team grow and provide a great spectator experience.

“We are fortunate to have space within the BT Murrayfield campus to comfortably accommodate the new stadium and retain practice pitches for all elements of rugby.

“We believe we have delivered a stadium that will help Edinburgh Rugby realise its potential.”

McKay has no easy task ahead of him when he takes the reins at Celtic Park. The Bhoys will undergo a major overhaul in the summer and it’s up to McKay to put the pieces together so Celtic can get back to dominating.

It’s comforting to see the next man in charge looks like a guy who can get things done. Of course, Celtic is a completely different animal from the SRU, so there will be a learning curve when he does
