DERMOT DESMOND will not make a change of manager and it appears it’s not because he doesn’t think a change might be needed.

Instead the majority shareholder is sending out a defiant message through ‘sources’ to let it be known to the Celtic support he will not bow to pressure from the fans after seeing the scenes at Celtic Park on Sunday.

The bhoys crashed out of the League cup and it was the final straw for many of the supporters. Many went to the ground to protest the management BUT we seen videos of some taking it too far.

We’re now in the position where our majority shareholder is keeping the manager in a job to spite the support. A sorry state of affairs, RecordSport published quotes from Dermot Desmond source and it makes for incredible reading:

Desmond’s source said: “Dermot Desmond is simply not the kind of man who will be dictated to by a hate mob – if anything what went on after the game on Sunday has strengthened his resolve to give Neil another chance to turn things around.

“It’s obviously been a terrible run of results for the manager but last Friday, despite the Europa League defeat against Sparta Prague, Dermot was absolutely unequivocal in his support for Neil. Yes, the defeat to Ross County was a bad one but the reaction to it was even more unacceptable as far as Dermot is concerned.

“Neil knows he can’t go on losing games indefinitely but he will also not be thrown to the wolves just because of the demands of a bunch of fans with an enormous sense of entitlement.”

The sense of entitlement angle seems to be the party line for many.

The run and the performances Celtic have delivered since the beginning of the season has been ridiculously poor.

Fans can see us sleep walking into a league defeat and now we have a majority shareholder treating us with contempt. Months after the fans backed the club with season ticket money even though nobody is getting in stadiums.

  2. I agree all winning runs come to a end that was the end of a crazy run for 4 seasons in cup ties look i like our manager and i have said he should move on, but why that defeat was due in cup ties now the monkey is off there back it could be a huge turn around of form we may not win anything this season as we are going through major changes bedding in players look 10 years is a long time to keep winning the league no one has done that but we need to enjoy what our team has done what we have won every one now needs to get this some we win some we lose and both we do together as a club, it is going be great seasons ahead it is like every league in the world now it is back to normal what those players and managers and staff did they put on a show for there fans and every one involved with Celtic and people from all over the world watched history makers at work enjoy what you all witnessed what they done may well be never repeated…

  3. The club is in a terrible state. No player has come through the development programme other than Johnston since Tierney 4 years ago, signings for the past two years have been between Average to Abysmal. The messing around by Lawwell on the John McGinn saga with Hibs was a big failure on our CEO’s part and if this report is correct we have our largest shareholder taking the huff because around 100 mainly young fans let their frustration boil over. As a Celtic supporter for nearly 70 years I can tell the board if they carry on with this inaction then they ain’t seen nothing yet and I’m afraid the Celtic fans will be protesting with their pockets. The club from top to bottom have become riddled with complacency, as far as this group of players go. There are some among them who aren’t good enough to wear the jersey and others who think they’re better than they are whilst looking for pastures new. I hope I’m wrong but this feels like the end of an era.
