Ange Postecoglou spoke to Australian sports publication Stan Sports this month before the squad broke for the summer.

The attention around the Celtic manager from the Australian press and the many media outlets who flew over to watch Ange land the Scottish Premiership title was quite something.

The manager has the backing of most football loving people back in Australia as flies the flag for the country.

The Hoops gaffer turned around Celtic’s fortunes in less than a year. Building a brand new squad and imposing his philosophy onto the players.

Celtic fans wanted to see progress this year after the lockdown asterisk season that was 20/21. Not only did they see incredible progress but they witness the bhoys land a double.

After Ange’s start to life at Celtic – losing their first three away games – many were imploring the former Socceroos boss to change his approach to be more pragmatic. It’s something Postecoglou has had to fight against his entire managerial career.

Now Celtic have the league trophy in the cabinet – attention turns to next season and The Bhoys Champions League adventure.

Asked if there would be any change in his approach. Ange delivered a typical Ange line to Stan Sport:

“I’ve never owned a bus, mate. I’m sure there’ll be – as there has in my whole career – people telling me I need to adjust my approach & temper my aggression. I’ve done pretty well just sticking to it, to be fair, so I’ll just keep going.”

It means Celtic are going to attempt to go toe to toe with some of the best in Europe. While it could be very exciting – there could be some painful score lines as this team grows. Interestingly, a lot of the Celtic players talk about games they lost in Europe this season as pivotal moments where they learned to trust the process and stick with what Ange is telling them.

It’s going to be great to hear that Champions League music at Celtic Park again.
