The Celtic FC Women’s team finds itself in a state of transition this summer, marked by the departure of several key players. Among the most impactful exits is that of Jacynta whose exit was announced on Sunday afternoon. A star player who has been with the club for an entertaining two and a half years. With her flair and creativity, Jacynta was a must-watch member of the squad, and her departure marks the end of a significant chapter in Celtic Women’s history.

Jacynta’s exit from the club is only the latest in a series of departures from the women’s side this summer, sparking concerns over continuity. Other notable departures include Natasha Flint, who had a spectacular loan season with Celtic, and goalkeeper Pam Tajonar, who returned to Mexico. Fan-favourite Liv Fergusson also parted ways with the club.

These departures come at a critical time for Celtic, who narrowly missed out on the SWPL 1 title last season. The close call has only intensified the team’s aspirations for the title, making it clear that signing quality replacements for the exiting players is of paramount importance.

While the departures certainly represent a significant upheaval, it’s not all doom and gloom for Celtic. Some new players, including Colette Cavanagh and Jenny Smith, have already joined the squad. Furthermore, the team has UEFA Women’s Champions League football to look forward to, providing an opportunity to make a strong statement on the European stage.

In the midst of this transition, one can only wonder about the thoughts of Celtic Women’s manager, Fran Alonso. Despite the challenges, Alonso has demonstrated remarkable resilience and optimism. Reflecting on the end of last season, he stated that although it was tough to see their dream slip away in the final minutes, he is extremely proud of what the team achieved. He expressed deep admiration for his squad, stating that they never let him down and that their performance throughout the season had been incredible.

She did manage to go out on a high, helping Celtic to win the Scottish Cup at Hampden against Rangers Women.

Jacynta took to social media to say her goodbyes to the Celtic fans.

“Where do I begin…I can’t thank you all enough, from my teammates, fans, staff and the whole club. I have been on an incredible journey with you all, and I will forever cherish all the memories I’ve made at Celtic.

“To the best fans in the world, thank you for embracing me from the minute I joined, the love you have shown me has never gone unnoticed. This club has made me a better player and person, and I can’t express how much I will miss each and every one of you.
I will forever support Celtic and good luck to the girls next season!

“Mon the hoops!”
