It’s no secret now that Celtic have been in pursuit of Saidy Janko for the last week or so. With contract talks going well and a fee agreed with Manchester Utd it looks like Celtic are on the brink of their second summer signing.
Some fans were left a little confused upon finding out Celtic were after a right back when we already have Mikael Lustig, Adam Matthews and the young Darnel Fisher on the books already. Some sighting the first two’s injury problems for the move but it may also seem that Adam Matthews is looking at life beyond Celtic Park.
Adam signed for Celtic back in 2011 when he came in on a free from Cardiff. He’s been a great player for Celtic when he’s been fit and even done his duties at left back when the squad has been thin on the ground. He has never played in the English Premiership and we believe he has ambitions to do so. he is only 23-years-old and has plenty of time to realise that ambition but this could happen sooner rather than later with Celtic snapping up the Swiss Right Back.
With Ronny Deila reiterating his need to trim the squad down there is no way that Lustig, Matthews or Fisher will all be in a Celtic jersey next season. He will look to offload one of them with Matthew’s looking like a willing volunteer.
