ANGE POSTECOGLOU was full of praise for young keeper Tobi Oluwayemi. The England under 19 international has been training alongside a former England number 1 daily and has been involved in a few matchday squads.

This season, the keeper has been a regular in the b side, making some great saves and proving he has potential. Aged 18, he’s still young and developing every day.

Watching and learning from Joe Hart, Oluwayemi is sure to make his debut soon.

Speaking about the player, Ange Postecoglou said; [Football Scotland]

“Tobi’s an exciting young goalkeeper. He was playing with the B team, but I feel like it’s time we expose him to our first-team environment, particularly at training.

“He’s a pretty lucky young man because he’s got an ex-England No1 and a guy who has reached the very top as a goalkeeper training with him every day.

“It’s going to be priceless.

“I didn’t want to waste that opportunity, so he’ll be training with us regularly and, hopefully, we’ll watch him develop over the next couple of years.”

The young goalie joined from Spurs in 2019, penning a three-year deal. He was then handed an extension last summer and put pen to paper on a contract that would see him at Celtic until July 2024.

Celtic have a lot of talent in their B squad. Their development will continue next season, with it confirmed, the Colts will be reinstated into the league next season. Hopefully, Celtic can hold onto their promising talent and show them a route to the first team. Tobi could very well be Joe Hart’s long term replacement.

  1. No disrespect to this lad but there’s another young goalie Celtic should look at. 21yrs old Welsh lad, Nathan Sheppard of Dundalk. He’s an excellent prospect and cool as a cucumber under pressure. Wouldn’t cost much and good investment. Could leave him on loan for a few more seasons to allow him to develop further.
