Celtic legend John Hartson has thrown his support behind Mikey Johnston and James Forrest to start in Celtic’s upcoming fixtures.

This endorsement comes in the wake of both players’ impactful performances in recent matches.

James Forrest, who has been limited to a single league start this season, demonstrated his value by coming off the bench to score a crucial stoppage-time goal against St Johnstone. He took the strike well, with the outside of his boot.

Mikey Johnston, on the other hand, turned the game around for Celtic after replacing Yang at halftime, but he’s yet to make a start for Brendan Rodgers since his return in the summer.

Yang has struggled to make a significant impact on the team thus far.

Speaking on Go Radio, Hartson said:

“You think it will be Mikey Johnston on the left and James Forrest maybe on the right,” said Hartson

“Then McGregor and O’Riley sort of through the middle. Those two on either side of Kyogo.”

This does mean Luis Palma dropping out or potentially taking up a different role. He has played as a number 10 before, and with Rodgers rotating Celtic’s attacking midfield options, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him try something new.

It could be like Haksabanovic against St Johnstone in Perth last season under Ange, who took up the attacking midfield role and played well.
