IBROX MIDFIELDER John Lundstram has claimed that there isn’t a big gap between Celtic and The Rangers, and the defeat on Sunday was just one game that his side just didn’t turn up.

The difference in quality between the two teams is staggering, in all honesty.

On Sunday, Celtic turned up and played football and had some brilliant phases of play throughout the match, with both goals a result of that. But, the opposition simply gave the ball to Goldson, who thumped it up the park and hoped for the best. They also swung aimless crosses into the box and hoped for someone to get on the end of it and knock it in.

Speaking during Thursday’s press conference, the midfielder, who was once the best on earth and is now wanted out, said: [The Daily Record]

“It is one game, they turned up and we didn’t. I think the combination for that didn’t complement each other well. It looks like there is a massive gap but I don’t think there is a massive gap. It is one game and looked like that at the weekend.

“But my personal opinion is that I don’t think there is. I don’t think the gap is as massive as one game portrays, they are a few points ahead of us in the league but we have showed we are a really good team.

“We have spoke internally about where we think we went wrong and that is one us. Not them being 100% better than us, we weren’t ourselves and didn’t get it right, that is on us and not the gap.”

It’s not just the one game, though, is it?

Celtic haven’t lost a derby in the league since Ange Postecoglou’s first derby at Ibrox, in 2021. It’s now 2023.

Celtic did fall to defeat last season, but it took The Rangers 120 minutes to get the win in the Scottish Cup semi-final after Celtic had won a domestic double.

May I add, nine points is a bit more than a few, John!
