Celtic are continuing work on deals for Sam Johnstone and Balázs Tóth as Martin O’Neill looks to add another goalkeeper before the transfer window closes on Thursday.
O’Neill is also believed to be a big admirer of the experienced former England international.
The deal currently being explored would be a loan, although there are still wages to be agreed before a deal can be reached.
Johnstone has two years remaining on his Wolves contract and is on wages reflecting his time as a Premier League goalkeeper, which makes the structure of any loan move a crucial part of negotiations.
Balázs Tóth is also still firmly under consideration by the Hoops hierarchy.
Blackburn Rovers rejected a £2.5 million Celtic bid for the Hungarian goalkeeper on Monday, his contract is set to expire at the end of the season.
There remains a difference between the clubs over his valuation, with Blackburn so far holding firm.
Tóth is also reportedly unlikely to feature against Lincoln as uncertainty continues around his future.
An official bid means the Blackburn goalkeeper remains the more advanced of the two deals, but Celtic have not placed all their focus on one player.
The Hoops are not expected to sign both.
As things stand, Celtic are still in for both goalkeepers. Of the two, Johnstone looks to be the more straightforward deal, but if an agreement can be reached for Tóth, it would be viewed internally as a real coup.
