When flamboyant winger Jota departed Celtic in the summer, many fans were left heartbroken. Things have moved on since then, however the player’s life post-Glasgow hasn’t gone to plan.

He left the Hoops for Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad in July but in six months, he has managed to make just fifteen appearances for the club, scoring twice. Rules regarding foreign players in the Middle East haven’t helped the 24-year-old, who is set for a move to England.

Per Tuttomercatoweb (via RecordSport), a deal for Jota to sign for Premier League side West Ham is ‘close’, and expected to be finalised before Thursday evening’s transfer deadline.

In London, the treble-winner will link up with former Celt David Moyes. The 60-year-old was mentioned as a potential candidate for the Parkhead hot seat in the summer, but when asked about the post, he revealed his focus was purely on remaining in the English capital.

Moyes isn’t known for playing an attractive brand of football. Rather, he is more of a direct gaffer who implements a pragmatic style.

The addition of Jota to his squad, however, will add flair, finesse, and skill. If a move does go through, Celtic fans will be keeping a close eye on the progress of their old favourite south of the border.
