Celtic’s superstar from Portugal was triumphant following the PFA Scotland awards on Sunday evening as he walked away with goal of the season.

The 24 year old’s iconic chip against Rangers back in September will stick in the minds of Celtic fans for a long while and after it was dubbed the best goal in Scottish football for 2022/23, Jota gave his thanks to Matt O’Riley for the assist (PFA Scotland):

“[It feels] Very good, very good. Just a shoutout to Matt O’Riley definitely because if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t have scored because of the assist – amazing pass.”

It certainly was a phenomenal, line breaking ball from O’Riley who has came back on to form in recent weeks.

Despite the nature of the goal and its beauty, Jota said:

“Every goal is important and the next one will always be the most beautiful for me.”

This is the mentality of an elite footballer and the winger is assuredly that.

Here’s hoping we see more ‘beautiful’ goals in the near future from the former Benfica man.
